Are all ps3’s backwards compatible?
I assumed it was a given because my ps2 was but I someone told me it was a rare find… is this true? Also can you get mario games for play station? I know someone who has an xbox and we used to play mario games on it all the time, but it was illegal… Do the original ps3s play dvds and blu-rays?
Answer:
I take it I’m going to be answering this question forever too: backward compatibility for the PS3 with PS2 games is as follows: 20GB (4 USB slots, no longer in production) – yes 60GB (4 USB slots, no longer in production) – yes 80GB with 4 USB slots (no longer in production, bundled with MGS4 or Motor Storm) – yes 40GB (2 USB slots, no longer in production) – NO 80GB with 2 USB slots – NO 160GB (2 USB slots) – NO any other up coming PS3’s – NO in short: if it has 4 USB slots, yes. if it has 2 USB slots, no. all PS3s play PS1 games. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_3#Retail_configurations the only way to play Mario games is to have a Nintendo system. that is it! there is no other way! Mario is owned by Nintendo, so you will NEVER see him on any other system! PERIOD! ALL PS3s play DVD and Blu-Ray. that’s just common knowledge (especially on the Blu-Ray part). BUT, they will only play DVDs and Blu-Ray from your region. they, unlike the PS3 games, are region locked.

How do I hook up my DVD and wii to the TV at the same time?
I have a Philips magnavox TV and I want to hook up both my wii and DVD player at the same time (so i can stop pulling the TV out!), But How exactly can I do so? In the back of the TV there are 5 holes to plug cords into, one yellow, two white and two red. Both my DVD and Wii have the basic red, white, and yellow cords. Is there a way to hook them both up to the back of the TV? Also my DVD has three holes: blue, green and red. Will I have to go buy a cord to hook my wii up through that? and if that is the case then where do I go to play either of them, or will I just turn one on at a time and it will stay in the same place as I play them now? No, The wii doesn’t play DVD’s, I personally think that it is stupid set up.. and of course i will have to pay more money to fix this issue.
Answer:
Your TV has 5 connection ports. There is probably a yellow/white/red “A/V In” and red/white “audio out”. So you only have one in-connection option. This means you will need to buy an RCA switcher. You’ll run two sets of cables in and one set out to the TV. There will be some sort of A/B switching mechanism so you can change between the Wii and the DVD player. I bought one for my mother recently at Radio Shack. It was under $20 I think. It looks something like this: http://store.cablesplususa.com/28746.html P.S. Doesn’t the Wii play DVDs?
